The American, a key member of Scissor Sisters along with frontman Jake Shears, will be giving Jessie’s team tips on how to perform during the “battle round” stage. Talking about her stint on the hit BBC1 show, she said:

“It was fantastic. I couldn’t believe it when the call came in. I wish I could be on there every week helping! But I could never do what the contestants are doing as a singer — I would just throw in the towel. It was a really high-pressure situation. I went in and Jessie and I heard them sing and gave them pointers.”

Despite enjoying herself, Ana said she wouldn’t want to be in Jessie’s shoes. She said:

“It would be really, really tough. I’m not sure if I could do it. Jessie has a really tough job. I would get so attached to the contestants. It would be like Sophie’s Choice for me to have to pick one over another!”

Ana also tevealed she could never be a judge on The X Factor or American Idol, saying:

“I find the American Idol model a bit problematic. It is not necessarily based around finding and nurturing new talent. There is a bit of a mean-spirited quality, especially at the audition process.”

And she had a go at Mr Nasty himself, Simon Cowell, saying he has “a sensitivity chip missing” and that she couldn’t understand what made women flock to him. She said:

“From what I have seen, he comes across as not very constructive. He is someone who has always been in a position of power and you can see that. You can smell the power coming off that guy. There is a sensitivity chip missing. I am not one of those women who find success an aphrodisiac. There are a lot of people who find success and power the ultimate aphrodisiac, but it is not for me. He might be a perfectly lovely person and if he likes comic books and weird funny movies then we would probably get along but I somehow doubt that.”
